What shapes your quote
The starting points above show where a project may begin. The final figure is set after we have read your manuscript and agreed what you need, so that you pay for the work your paper requires and not for a generic package.
Your manuscript
Length, how finished the draft is, the subject, and how technical the language is. A near-final draft and a thesis chapter that needs restructuring are different jobs, even in the same field.
The work you need
Proofreading, deeper language editing, scientific editing, journal selection, submission preparation and reviewer-response support are different amounts of work. You can choose one or combine them. Where editing is priced per word, we confirm in writing how the word count is measured.
Time and requirements
A close deadline, several revision rounds, or an institutional requirement such as a particular index or quartile can change the work involved. Tell us early so the quote reflects it.

How scoping works
- You send your field, manuscript stage, target journal or index, and deadline, with a title and abstract. A sample or the full manuscript makes the quote more accurate.
- We review it and may ask questions.
- We send a written scope: which services, what each includes, and the timeline and price.
- You approve, narrow or decline. Nothing starts until you have agreed.
- If the work turns out to need more than agreed, we tell you before doing it.
What our quote does not cover
- Article processing charges and any other journal or publisher fee, such as page or colour charges, which depend on the journal’s policy
- Conference registration or proceedings fees
- Permission to reproduce figures or tables from other publications
- Professional translation, if your original text is not in English
Keeping the cost sensible
- Send a complete, near-final draft rather than several partial versions
- Share the target journal’s author guidelines early
- Decide your target journal before formatting work begins
- Ask whether a lighter service would do. A paper whose science is settled may need language editing only
- Check the journal’s fees page before you submit, so there are no surprises later
What no price can buy
No fee buys acceptance, indexing, a quartile, faster peer review or a publication date, and we do not quote against any of them. Treat offers that suggest otherwise, from anyone, with caution.
